Hey Melanin Beauties and Beauts!

I am Ashley V. Nicole Dolson,  Licensed Esthetician and former Licensed Massage Therapist.

I have been passionate about skin care and body wellness since I was 14 years old. I've always struggled with eczema and sensitive skin. I also always struggled with finding products in the store that could be used on my skin and hated  the "ethnic" products being segregated in a corner in the back of most stores.

I started my journey into body and skin care 11 years ago obtaining my license to practice Massage Therapy in Charlotte, NC. I then went on to become a licensed Esthetician in Buffalo, NY. I first started to handcrafting my own creams for my skin that addressed my skin concerns. When my Goddaughter, Dylan was a baby I created Dylan's body butter to be versatile, moisturizing and nourishing for both her hair and skin. Two years later I had my son who like me struggled with eczema. His eczema was  severe due to undiagnosed food allergies. His hair began to fall out in patches daily and his skin was constantly inflamed and itchy. I created Juju's Hair Serum  specifically for his hair to help with the eczema and dryness in his scalp and to bring moisture back to his dry hair. I also used Dylan's Butter on his skin as an alternative to the in store baby products which often contains unnecessary ingredients that are harsh to babies sensitive skin.

My goal with creating Melanin Skyn Co. is to provide products that only contain simple and necessary ingredients for people who have had similar experiences as I've had. I aspire to help uplift and build the confidence in those who struggle with their experiences dealing with their melanin- rich skin.  I also hope to one day contribute to the expansion of personal care products that are inclusive of and formulated for melanin skin so that we may expand from our small, segregated, ethnic section in stores and truly be inclusive of all skin colors, tones and types.
